Overview
On October 24, 2022, a project permit was issued to the upland property owner at 1140 Alderside Road, Port Moody to develop Existing Dock Replacement located at 1140 Alderside Road in Port Moody, British Columbia on federal lands and waters managed by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.
The project was approved subject to 38 permit conditions the applicant must meet to ensure the project does not result in significant adverse environmental effects. Please see the Impact Assessment Act Registry for the Notice of Intent and Notice of Decision.
About the project
The Project consists of replacing the existing recreational dock located within the water lot fronting 1140 Alderside Road, Port Moody. The existing dock will be removed using hand tools, and a small excavator or crane with a clamshell mounted on a barge. All creosote and treated timber material will be removed from the site via barge, transferred upland, and taken to an approved facility for appropriate disposal.
The new dock will consist of:
- An approximately 38-metre-long by 1.2-metre-wide aluminium walkway supported by six (6) concrete piles
- Concrete piles will be supported by three (3) concrete footings measuring approximately 2.4-meter wide by 1.2-meter long by 0.6-metre deep - Two (2) piles per footing
- An approximately 15-metre-long by 1.2-mere-wide ramp
- An approximately 28 square metres floating dock
- Four (4) concrete lock blocks and galvanized chains will be installed below the low water mark to secure the float
