Overview
On May 18, 2023 a project permit was issued to Upland Owner ("the Applicant") for a New Dock installation at Lot 14, Best Point, Indian Arm, District of North Vancouver, British Columbia. The project is on federal lands and waters managed by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.
The project was approved subject to 35 permit conditions the Applicant must meet to ensure the project does not result in significant environmental effects. Please see the Impact Assessment Act Registry for the Notice of Intent and Notice of Decision.
About the project
The proposed recreational dock would include the following features:
- A wooden float, approximately 27 square metres, moored in place with galvanized chain secured to anchor blocks on the south side and dowelled into bedrock on the north side.
- A pre-fabricated aluminum pier, approximately 18 metres long and a pre-fabricated aluminum ramp approximately 15 metres long.
- An approximate 0.4 metre by 1.2 metre concrete shore block doweled into the exposed bedrock and a concrete column approximately 610 millimetres in diameter founded on a concrete footing approximately 1 metre by 1 metre.
- The pier would extend from the shore block to the column and the ramp would extend from the column to the float and include wheels that would ride in guides placed on the float.
