Overview
On March 27, 2023 a project permit was issued to Upland Owner ("the Applicant") to develop New Dock Installation at 242 Turtlehead Road, in Belcarra, British Columbia on federal lands and waters managed by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.
The project was approved subject to 36 permit conditions the Applicant must meet to ensure the project does not result in significant adverse environmental effects. Please see the Impact Assessment Act Registry for the Notice of Intent and Notice of Decision.
About the project
The proposed dock would include the following:
- Lower landing of an approximately 18 metre long pedestrian tram with a staircase in case of electrical or mechanical failure to provide access from the upland owner’s residence to the fixed platform
- Approximately 15 square metre aluminum fixed platform (between the tram and gangway), with four aluminum legs that are proposed to be drilled into bedrock, with stainless steel pins
- Approximately 21 metre long aluminum gangway that connects to the concrete float.
- Approximately 27 square metre (9 metre long by 3 metre wide) concrete float that is moored in place using chains and four 5000 pound precast concrete anchors.
