Overview

Permit issued On June 1, 2023 a project permit was issued to Upland owner ("the Applicant") for a New Dock Installation. The project is located at 135 Turtlehead Road in Belcarra, British Columbia on federal lands and waters managed by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority. The project was approved subject to 39 permit conditions the Applicant must meet to ensure the project does not result in significant adverse environmental effects. About the project The proposed Project is for an installation of a new recreational dock at 135 Turtlehead Road, Belcarra. The proposed dock includes the following features:
  • Approximately 20.7 metre long (1.2 metre wide) aluminum pier section with perforated decking.
  • Approximately 13.2 metre long (1.2 metre wide) aluminum counterbalance ramp
  • Pier and ramp connected and supported by one 760 mm diameter precast column on shore
  • Approximately 30 square metre float composed of CCA treated Douglas Fir, which will be towed into place and secured by precast concrete blocks and galvanized chain
The Project would consist of constructing the precast concrete column on shore and positioning and welding the prefabricated pier and ramp on top of it using a crane-barge. The counterbalance ramp that would connect to wooden and composite float would raise and lower with the tide. The Project will not require any pile driving. Should the Project Permit be approved, construction would take approximately two weeks to complete. The proposed work will be conducted during regular construction hours.
