Overview
In June 2024, Pacific Coast Terminals Co. submitted a project permit application to develop Berth repairs for dolphins and caissons - PCT at 2300 Columbia St, Port Moody, British Columbia on federal lands and waters managed by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.
As part of the Project and Environmental Review for the proposed project under the Impact Assessment Act, the proposed project was posted on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry with an opportunity for public comment between June 27 and July 26, 2024. The port authority will conduct formal consultation activities with stakeholders and Indigenous groups.
About the project
Pacific Coast Terminals is proposing to undertake removal and upgrades to their berth, including the removal of dolphins due to moderate to severe corrosion, and the installation of new catwalk supports. The works include:
- Remove approximately 22 existing piles (creosote and steel)
- Remove approximately two dolphins
- Remove approximately three concrete caissons
- Install approximately two 610-millimetre steel piles with cast-in place concrete
- Install approximately two catwalk sections
