Permit issued On December 21, 2023 a project permit was issued to applicant for Log Grapple Installation - Halo Sawmill located at 17700 Fraser River Dyke Road, Pitt Meadows, British Columbia on federal lands and water managed by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority The project was approved subject to 38 permit conditions applicant must meet to ensure the project does not result in significant adverse environmental effects. This Notice of Determination, shows the overall review process. About the project  Halo Sawmill Manufacturing Limited Partnership proposes to install a log grapple to improve throughput of timber and increase safety by reducing the personnel required to move logs in the water at all times, including during freshet and winter conditions.  The project consists of: 

• Construction of a platform to install the log grapple 
• Installation of a boom cable recycling bin
• Construction of a boom, stick, and grapple maintenance platform 
• Installation of approximately 10, 610-millimetre diameter steel piles 
• Construction of a 14-square-metre log storage area 
• Installation of an electrical grapple 

Steel piles would be installed using a marine spud derrick and materials barge with a vibratory hammer.
